Summer sweeps into the vineyard, bringing interactive fun with it

Sunshine, good friends, chilled wine. Summer has arrived at the vineyard and Harkness Edwards Vineyard is celebrating with a lineup of hands-on classes designed to show off the season’s attributes—colorful flowers and sun-loving succulent plants, fresh-made jam to pair with coffee for those porch-sitting mornings and painting a posey with inspiration cued up by the vineyards’ beautiful setting. 

Check out these Winchester Original experiences created by and for Harkness Edwards Vineyard and held at the vineyard:

  • Succulent Terrarium Workshop: Grab a friend, slip on your gardening gloves and join the fun. Harkness Edwards will have all the tips and tricks you need to create a perfect terrarium during this workshop, planned for 3-4 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Tickets here. $55/person (includes a glass of wine and all materials needed) 
  • Jam Making Class: Jam at the vineyard. Gather with friends and work together as you learn the basics of making fresh jam to enjoy at home. Leave with a recipe for your files. 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, June 7. Tickets here. $47/person
  • Painting Class at the Vineyard: Create a masterpiece to showcase at home at this fun and interactive painting class. Sip a glass of wine (included) as you learn how to achieve loose intentional brushstrokes, produce depth and shade shadows and highlights and when to add detail. This beginner-level course includes canvas, paints and guided instructions for painting a bold and beautiful flower. 2-3 p.m. Sunday, June 9 and 23. Tickets here. $45/person
  • Floral Bouquet Workshop: Design a beautiful floral bouquet to take home using seasonal flowers grown locally. The hands-on course will cover cutting and conditioning flowers and tips and techniques for arranging fabulous floral displays. Each ticket includes a free glass of wine. 3-4 p.m. Sunday, June 23. In addition to these special events, the vineyard is hosting Vineyard Tours and Tastings at 3 p.m. every Saturday. Comfy shoes and attire are required as there is a fair amount of walking for this one-hour tour, which includes a tasting, sampling each variety right in the vineyard in which it is grown. $35/per person

Sangria Sundays pairs warm country breezes with bottomless sangria from 3 to 6 p.m., accompanied by live entertainment performed by a different musician each Sunday. $14/per person

Brand new for 2024 is the much anticipated Twilight in the Vines. Held every Saturday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. May through September, this event is a two-hour tabletop experience within Harkness Edwards’ lush vineyards. Sip wine (additional) and graze on charcuterie as twilight blankets the sky. $44/table (up to four per table; includes charcuterie board and table reservation).

Additionally, Golden Hour unfolds Fridays through September and features a new experience: Pizza at the Peach House. Held 5-8 p.m. during the vineyard’s Golden Hour Event, it is an opportunity for visitors to roll up their sleeves and build their own pizza. Harkness Edwards supplies pre-rolled pizza dough and toppings. $15/pizza (includes unlimited toppings). Outdoor seating is available but bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets just in case.

Harkness-Edwards closes out a busy month with a Berry Cake Decorating Class, 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, June 28—just in time to wow guests for Fourth of July gatherings.
